Lumineers

WHAT ARE LUMINEERS?

Lumineers are ultra-thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth to cover up cosmetic imperfections and improve the appearance of the teeth and overall smile. They are much thinner than traditional veneers, which enables us to bond them to your teeth filing down your tooth enamel.

This makes Lumineers a non-invasive and reversible alternative to traditional veneers. No drills, needles, or local anesthetic are needed and we can place your veneers without permanently altering your teeth.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR LUMINEERS APPOINTMENT IN SAN MARCOS

CONSULTATION

At your consultation, Dr. Shridhar will examine your teeth to rule out tooth decay and gum disease and determine if you’re a suitable candidate for Lumineers.

IMPRESSIONS

Impressions will be taken of your teeth either digitally or with physical molds and sent to an outside dental lab that will create your Lumineers. We will use a shade guide to match the porcelain of the Lumineers to your natural teeth.

LUMINEER FITTING & ADJUSTMENT

Your Lumineers will be ready within a few weeks and we can check how they fit, look, and feel. If any adjustments need to be made, we can make them accordingly.

LUMINEER PLACEMENT

Once the Lumineers are sufficient, we’ll bond the Lumineers to your teeth with dental cement and polish them.

WHAT COSMETIC ISSUES CAN LUMINEERS TREAT?

STAINED/DISCOLORED TEETH

SMALL GAPS & MISALIGNED TEETH

CHIPS & CRACKS

ODDLY SHAPED OR SIZED TEETH

stained/discolored teeth

Many of us engage in behaviors that cause tooth staining and discoloration every single day. From drinking coffee and smoking to having a glass of wine or eating a bowl of blueberries.

Over time, your teeth can become discolored and this can detract from your confidence. Teeth whitening can improve discoloration but it’s only temporary. Lumineers last for 20 years and are a stain-resistant option to cover up discolored teeth.

small gaps & misaligned teeth

Minor orthodontic problems such as small gaps and slightly crooked teeth can be addressed with Lumineers so you can avoid undergoing expensive and time-consuming orthodontics.

While severely crooked teeth and large gaps may need to be treated with braces or clear aligners, if you have minor alignment problems that pose a cosmetic concern, Lumineers can cover your teeth so they appear perfectly straight with no gaps.

chips & cracks

While severely damaged teeth will need to be repaired with dental crowns or root canal therapy, minor chips and cracks can be covered with Lumineers. Other damage to teeth such as enamel erosion can be covered by Lumineers. If the damage is a result of teeth grinding, you will need to wear a mouthguard at night to prevent damaging the Lumineers.

oddly shaped or sized teeth

Let’s face it, sometimes our teeth don’t look perfectly symmetrical. Some may be too long, others too small, and others are just a different shape. Why not place Lumineers on top and create the appearance of a perfectly symmetrical and uniform smile?

DID YOU KNOW…

Lumineers are half as thick as traditional veneers.
